With so much happening and going from one country to the next sourcing new garms, we completely forgot to blog about becoming an official Depop Verified Seller. Shouting this news from the rooftops, we are certainly grateful and extremely proud of this accomplishment.
When we first got our iconic blue tick, we received lots of messages from other sellers, asking how they can become verified – and it’s all down to hard work. To become a successful Depop seller, follow these simple steps.
List Daily
If you’re about to open up your very own Depop shop, make sure you start off with a good selection of clothing. We recommend listing at least 5 items a day, to engage with your potential customers. It helps if you start following people who have recently liked items that are featured on the homepage because it shows they are active members of the Depop community.
BUMP, BUMP, BUMP
You can never do enough bumping! We bump our items every other day, yes EVERY SINGLE ON OF THEM. We find sales shoot up, the more you bump. It refreshes the search engine function and features your item at the top. Do NOT use spammy hash tags. It’s messy, annoying and it’s a massive no no.
Clean Images
Photos are everything in the Depop world. Make sure you take pictures on a clean white/pale background. Flatlays also work really well, as do hanger shots – but only use a wooden hanger. If you can model the clothes yourself, great! You are more than likely going to be picked for the feature wall if your photography skills are on point.
How to Become Verified
- You have a good track record and have sold 50 or more items at an average price of £15+ per month, OR have sold £2000 or more worth of items per month in previous months.
- You offer a great customer experience and maintain an average rating of at least 4.5 stars.
Descriptions
Keep your descriptions short and snappy, clear and consistent. Write what it is you’re selling, a short description, and even add what it’s best suitable for; EG, a house party, a festival, a rave etc. You are only allowed to use 5 hashtags, use them wisely. Whatever it is you’re selling, always list measurements. This stops a ton of people asking ‘will it fit?’. Don’t forget to add the size in the description along with the exact colours to avoid the whole, ‘in the photo it looks purple’ when in fact it’s blue.
